A boudoir session is an exceptional gift idea for a wedding or valentines’ day, special birthday or anniversary – or a great way to celebrate your body for just you.
There are at least two people from iDempsey Photography present during the photography – Bill, the photographer, and a female assistant. You are welcome to come along with your significant other, or a friend, if this makes you feel more comfortable, but we request that for the actual shoot you trust yourself to us, without an audience. It makes it easier to direct, and also allows you to relax as the frames click by.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’m not very confident with my body, is this for me?
No one is perfect and that’s not what Boudoir photography is about – we believe in celebrating you, and making you look the best you can look. if you have any particular areas that you are self-conscious about, be sure to list these on our questionnaire and we will use lighting, poses and retouching to minimize focus on that area. It’s our job to make you look as gorgeous as possible, and remember you can show as much or as little as you like, so come along and relax and leave the rest to us.
Are there any age limits?
There is no upper age limit, but there is a minimum age of 18, and if you are young looking, we will need to see a form of photo identification when you arrive for your session. We generally photograph your drivers license as evidence.
How long is the shoot and what should I bring?
Depending on the package you chose your shoot could last up to two hours. We ask that you bring along any lingerie that you feel comfortable and sexy in. Try to bring a couple of different colors so that we can create different moods. Don’t forget your heels and any other accessories that you would like
Corsets, suspenders, a man’s white-collared shirt, hats, a feather boa, football/rugby tops? If you prefer, you are welcome to bring along a selection of options you can choose from based on the sets and our recommendations. For a Wedding boudoir session, it’s great if you also bring along your veil, tiara and heels.
Exactly what happens at the session?
We first meet and go over the questionnaire and contract to make sure we are on the same page. Your comfort is our top priority! We need to know and establish your boundaries and limits. During your session we will respect those and not attempt to push you past them. Generally, after the questionnaire review, we start shooting.
Who will be present at the session?
Bill (the photographer), a female assistant, and if you’ve booked one , the make-up artist (who will be there at the start to apply your makeup.)
I’d rather save money and not have the assistant there, is that ok?
iDempsey Photography is a well established, family-friendly company with an excellent reputation. It is very important that we maintain the highest standards and we therefore require that for everyone’s protection there is a female assistant present throughout the shoot.

DO’s and DON’Ts
- Try to lay off the salt for a few days before the shoot. This helps keep you hydrated and looking good.
- You’ll want to drink lots of water – not only will it make your skin look great it will also cut back your water weight.
- Exfoliate every day at least for a week. Give yourself a good scrub down.
- Moisturize. moisturize. moisturize. Did I mention moisturize. Hold off of lotion with glitter though 🙂
- If you get a facial DON’T do any chemical peels before your shoot.
- Try to get a mani/pedi the day before the shoot. If you can’t – make sure your nails are trimmed and painted nicely.
- If you get your hair colored on a regular basis be sure to have your hair done the same week as your shoot.
- If you do not have a package with the stylist be sure to have your makeup and hair done at the salon, or go to the MAC counter and have someone there do your makeup. Unless you are a makeup artist you will probably look at your photos later and really regret not letting a professional handle the finer details of your face. This really does make a difference for your photos.
- Wear a button up shirt and loose clothing to your shoot. Don’t wear anything tight fitting because it can leave marks on your skin.
- Be sure and eat a good breakfast. Do not skip meals because it is not going to make a big difference in how you look. If you really feel like you can’t eat a regular meal then eat a protein bar. It takes a lot of energy to do intimate portraits and you don’t want to run out of steam before the session is over.
- Choose lingerie that fits well. Try on items you have not wore in awhile in case they are too big or too small now. (we will give you a list of suggested items to bring upon booking)
- Practice your sultry look in the mirror or like Tyra says your “Smize” {Smile with your eyes).
DON’Ts
- Do not get a spray tan. Creamy skin is in don’t you know!
- Do not get sun burned or tan lines. Be careful about tan lines and burning before your session. Retouching sunburn is not included in your package. If you have really bad tan lines be sure to have your lingerie match up with the lines or you may have to pay additional fees for extensive retouching depending on how bad it is.
- Do not get a wax the day before if you do not wax normally. Wax at least a few days in advance.
