Wedding: Maranda and Dean

Congratulations to Maranda, Dean and Family. We had a wonderful time photographing their wedding!  We’ve been so fortunate this season – we’ve not had one bad wedding and not one single Bridezilla (oops— did I just jinks myself?????) Maranda’s son was an absolute ham.  Admittedly, I kind of cringe when it’s time to take pictures of the kids – usually it’s a struggle – a fun one, but a struggle.  Not Kurtis.  He was awesome! The surprise of the day:  Maranda’s dress.  Dean had no idea that Maranda had secretly decided to wear a different dress.  You should have seen the look in his eyes when she walked down the isle.  She was a very beautiful bride! Maranda and Dress Dean was a super-sport.  he was willing to pose just about anyway we asked him.  Down to earth -handsome groom. Dean and Curtis

Any Time Photographs : The Heston Kids

We had the opportunity to take a break from weddings and photograph the Heston kids.  Talk about energetic!   We had a great time and took some great shots.

The sun was just perfect -  nice and warm light.

You can click on any of these pictures to make them larger.  I recommend that.  They look better at 800x

In other news, I’m going to start re-working the layout of the blog so that I can display 800×500 pictures. They look much better than the 500×333 pictures I’m showing now.

It’s official. We are fully booked for weddings. If we’ve been talking or working with you, you’re fine. If not, sorry. There’s not enough of us to go around!

Cheryl and Adam – 03-28-2009: SNEAK PEEK

Our wedding season began with Cheryl and Adam, and we had a great time – they are such beautiful couple and both of their families were wonderful people.   Now that the dust has settled,  I’ve had a couple of minutes to go through our images and have picked a few to share with everyone. This is just a small sneak peek of some of the photos we took Saturday.   This is our first wedding using the 5d MK II and the 50mm 1.2.  Both shined.  I’m finally able to predict how the 5d MK II will meter.

First picture: Rings on the pillow:  I think I’m going to end up getting a good macro lens for ring shots.  The 5omm was two wide and the 70-200 was too cumbersome to use.  Maybe a telephoto extender would do the job.

Bouquet and Rings:  Shots like these are perfect fillers for albums – or album backgrounds.  I’m entirely happy with the sharpness I am getting from the 50mm.

Cheryl’s feet!: 70-200mm.  Taken while Cheryl and I were outside… She was waiting to go down the isle.  She was soooo calm.. It made me nervous !

Cheryl and the butterfly favor. The butterfly had a seed in it that you could plant. Pretty cool, I thought.

Cheryl: The Radiant Bride!  I don’t know what else to say… She was just radiant.

Adam: The Groom!  Very handsome fellow.

Close up: I loved Adam’s tie.  If he would have taken it off and laid it down at any point.. I probably would have taken it and hidden it in my camera bag.  Just kidding… or am I:)???

Cheryl and Adam: Together.  We wish them the best of luck.  They really are a wonderful couple.

Cheryl: Stained glass. Nice picture. I fought with exposure on this one… one of the shots I did as a silhouette, but I found this one below with the Cheryl’s face exposed to be more of a desirable shot.

Well, hope those are enough to get your mouth wet. For me, it’s back to the darkroom – we have hundreds of images to process. Than you Cheryl and Adam for such a wonderful time!

March.. Where did it go????

March is flying by… Where has it gone?  Sorry for the lack of updates.  We’ve been really busy behind the scenes.  We are SO EXCITED.. Our first wedding of the season is THIS WEEKEND!!! Stay tuned here for sneak peeks!

The weather has finally broken and it’s starting to get nice outside.  We still need to rake leaves from last fall.  We went through all of our equipment today to make sure we were ready for the start of the season.

Here comes the green. Check out the water… Green too!

I think this year my primary lens is going to be the 50mm 1.2l.. I’ll keep it on camera and the 70-200 2.8l in the bag. Melanie will most likely end up shooting with the 24-70 2.8L and the 28-135. I find myself using one of my favorite lenses, the 85 1.8 less and less.  Kind of crazy really.  I used to shoot with it all the time.

I’m still digging the 5d mark II.    I plan on using it primarly and Melanie will end up with the 1d or 40d.

Peace out people! I’m going to get some sleep!

It is getting close to that time

Wow.  We have had the pleasure to  talk to several beautiful couples lately – and I have to tell you: We are so excited to be photographing your wedding.   For all those that have book – we will be keeping in touch with you.  If you haven’t already, you will start receiving our monthly news letter.   You will receive that up to the day of your wedding.  Give it a quick read, it will have some helpful information in it – and some tips to help make everything go smooth.

Back to business.  Melanie and I were discussing that we are almost at capacity with wedding bookings.  We want to give every wedding the attention it deserves, and we are concerned that if we take on too many more, we won’t be able to do that.   I guess what I am trying to say: Be prepared for us to stop accepting Wedding bookings some time later this month.  NO WORRIES:  If we have met with you and you HAVE not signed a contract, we still have the date tentatively reserved for you.  Don’t get too excited.

Until next time….
